The RDB Awards are recognition of excellence. Prosperous private enterprise and individual initiative are central to achieving development of the country as a whole. RDB with its mandate as facilitator of private sector led development, initiated the RDB Awards to recognize those who excel in their endeavours. The awards must encourage enterprises and individuals to go beyond by not only being profitable but also by contributing to society, innovating and growing their industries.

CRITERIA

The awards will go to companies that:

• Have been in operation for at least 2 years and must have been profitable at least for one year in 2007 – 2008
• They must promote local SMEs by using local suppliers or selling to local buyers
• They must be at the forefront of innovation and technological transfer in their respective sectors/ industry
• They should attempt to enhance the well being of the communities in which they operate through formal or informal Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
• They must show the potential for future growth and market leadership through capital expenditure and training

There are 15 categories and they are:

Investor of the Year

• First Runner Up
• Second Runner Up

Exporter of the Year

• First Runner Up
• Second Runner Up

Sector Winners – Tourism, ICT, General Manufacturing, Agro processing, Mining, Finance, Real Estate

Special Category Winners

• Customer care winner
• Woman Entrepreneur of the year

The RDB wishes all participants, nominees and winners a prosperous 2010.
